Main Purpose of the Role A Senior NAV Developer role is to own, validate and enhance the technical design for a product and/or project component and lead the internal and client workshops to agree the design.

The Senior NAV Developer is also expected to generate opportunities within the Torex client and prospect base by leading workshops to uncover opportunities for enhancements, and then to pursue those opportunities with the client through a consultative sales approach.

The Senior NAV Developer is expected to be a recognised expert in the product and/or technology deployed which may include professionally representing Torex in front of external customers.

The Senior NAV Developer's role is high profile, and as such, the individual must be able to adhere to all development processes and carry out other development duties as work schedules demand.

 

Main Responsibilities and Duties

1.To undertake design and detailed validation of major software components fulfilling the requirements of the originator in a way that is stable and maintainable.

2.To lead workshops with the client and/or internal resources from various departments in order to produce solution designs and to gain buy in to those designs from all parties.

3.To establish and enforce appropriate design principles and coding methodologies.

4.To define and justify the required tools and software environments.

5.To undertake complex programming and unit testing of allocated Software Development tasks.

6.To work to agreed budgets and timescales.

7.To create detailed technical specifications and produce appropriate coding design and unit test plans.

8.Support the Migration of C/SIDE architecture to the Dynamics NAV three-tier architecture, help to plan development projects, customer deployments and troubleshoot issues within this environment.

9.To work to Torex processes and guidelines.

10.To investigate and resolve software related problems.

11.To enhance an in-depth technical knowledge of specific areas of the business sector and/or solution(s).

12.To communicate clearly, accurately and regularly at the appropriate level for the intended audience.

13.To ensure that appropriate technical skills are kept up to date.

14.To document changes appropriately.

15.To highlight any problems to more senior management.

16.To mentor other technical members of staff.

Qualifications and Experience

1.An appropriate degree or equivalent professional qualification in a Computer Science, Engineering subject. For example, MSc, PhD, or extensive and proven industry track-record with a competitor.

2.Substantial experience of working within a related software environment.

3.Experience of the particular vertical target market sector is key.

 

Other requirements of the role (e.g. overnight travel required etc)

As a Senior NAV Developer the role will typically be based in a Torex office but will also frequently be expected to be on-site with clients.

Software delivery dates can become challenging and so the individual must be aware that on certain projects they may have to work unsocial hours to meet delivery commitments.

The Senior NAV Developer may also be asked to attend meetings at locations which may necessitate frequent overnight or international travel.
